Author's Notes: Written for [livejournal.com profile] originalbigbang. Story's title comes from the Riverboat Gamblers' "A Choppy Yet Sincere Apology" which was very much on my playlist for this story.

Thank you so much to my beta-editors, [livejournal.com profile] redsnake05 and [livejournal.com profile] la_dissonance who made this as good as it could be, and a million times better than it was. Any lingering mistakes are mine. There were some formatting issues that I think I've fixed. Please let me know if you find any that slipped in.

Thank you so much for reading. I hope you enjoy.

Mix: Sank Into Eden With You by [livejournal.com profile] carduelinae

Mixer Notes:

Since all the flashbacks are set during the 90s, when Jake was in high school (and so was I) I decided to do the mix as songs that were released in the 90s and which I think might have influenced his music. The bonus track, sadly, did not fit this theme, but seemed like a good
fit for Jake. Hope you enjoy.

Tracklist:

1. Bush - little things
2. Smashing Pumpkins - Zero
3. Johnny Cash & U2 - The Wanderer
4. Nirvana - the Man Who Sold the World

6. Pearl Jam - Better Man
7. Silverchair - Miss You Love
8. Collective Soul - the World I Know
9. Live - I Alone

Bonus:
The Killers - Andy, You're a Star

The title comes from Live's I Alone.

Author's Notes: [livejournal.com profile] carduelinae, I cannot even express how much this mix means to me! You capture the time and character perfectly! While 1990s music will always have a special place in my heart and you found the songs that are the reason why. What's funny is that I already have quiet a few of these songs, and yet, I didn't even think about them. You, my friend, are a genius! Thank you!
