A while back, I found out that I band that I quite enjoy would be playing a local show. I contacted the newspaper that I sometimes do freelancing for and asked if I could do an article. They said sure. I contact the bands publicity people and set up an interview with their guitarist and spokesman, Tom Conrad.

The interview was awesome, the article was being written, everything was going to be amazing. I finally got a hold of the venue to get more information about the show, only to find that it was being held in a teen center and only highschool students were allowed to come.

Obviously the newspaper wasn't going to run an article where 95 percent of their readership weren't allowed to attend. So, I thought I'd have to scrap the article. But first I decided to try to get it published somewhere else.

That's when I found Music Emissions. They are a really cool site for super indie/alt music and is mostly run on reviews of music by the listeners of that sort of music. I saw they had NOTHING on Empires and contacted them to see if they would be interested in the article. They said absolutely!

So now it is up there along with a whole page devoted to Empires!

I wish I could get paid to do this all day everyday!

Wilton Reads! Ann Patchett

She's lovely. Very funny and hopefully that came through in the article a bit.

Chris Welles Feder offers new insights on Orson Welles

A week after this interview, I saw that Zac Efron is playing Orson Welles in a new movie...I which I would have known, I would have loved to ask her what she thought about that. Oh well.

God! I wish this was mine! But instead, it's my editor who got this SWEET story...one of those times where it's better to be her then me. :))

This was one of the funnest interviews I've ever done...and not nearly as unprintable as I had thought. :))

David Baldacci: A writer's job is never done

"Being a writer is my job. I have an office that I go to everyday, but that doesn't mean that I write every day. Artificial goals like a certain words or pages a day sound ridiculous to me," said Baldacci.

*meep* Just in time for NaNoWriMo!

Yes, I can see his point. But if you aren't lucky enough to make your living with selling the same book over and over best sellers...you have to do what you have to do to make it and if that means ridiculous self-imposed word counts for one month...then so be it.

Write on NaNoers!
