Finally--

SCOTLAND!

Or more specifically, Edinburgh! (we only spent one night in Glasgow sadly, and besides loving that we got food delivered to our hotel room at 1 a.m. we had no real experience with the city itself)

Here is the train station in Stranaer:

Here is our Scottish/American English translator on the train, as the conductor had the THICKEST Scottish Brogue EVER! We thought we had gotten the whole accent thing down, as we hadn't had to ask anyone in Ireland to repeat themselves in days. The conductor though? Put us right back to newbies on the whole accent thing. But thank goodness for this guy, who turns out to be a musician.

I know I promised you pictures with people in them, but first: EDINBURGH CASTLE!!

It is MASSIVE and is like, built out of a mountain--or at least it looks that way. There was a band from Norway there that played in between downpours. It rained a lot that day, so we spent most of our time inside looking at the Crown Jewels.

But, [livejournal.com profile] ajavajunky did find time to discover her very favorite thing: FLAKES!!

Srsly, she bought like a CASE of those at the airport, you know, for friends, but I'm not sure how many of them actually made it all the way home. :)) This phenomenon NEEDS to come to America!

Anyway...here are some pictures of VERY, VERY Scottish people we saw while walking around:

Haha, amazing right? That there is just a William Wallace just chillin' on the road up to the Edinburgh Castle, what are the odds?

Okay, maybe high, because the BEST thing about Edinburgh (in my opinion) was that we just HAPPENED to be there during FRINGE FESTIVAL!!

I can't even describe how amazingly cool it was. And our hostel was right in the middle of all the action! Granted it was up a MAJOR hill, but still! I srsly want to go back again next year. Who's with me?!?!

DUSTFINGER!! ♥ of course that reference is for anyone who has read any of the Inkheart Series of books, believe me...that is HIM!

BEST TIME!

It was amazing. And mostly because we had NO idea what was going on until like two days before we left for Europe.

I loved it and wished we would have seen more, but it was hard to see it all. My niece actually gets really tetchy around comedy (I know, how are we even related?) but she was a good sport.

The ice cream I believe were called Flakes and we didn't know it was because of the candy...and yeah, they are Cadbury's.

Haha, we didn't try as much candy in Scotland as we did in Ireland and London...Ireland because the niece raided every gas station we stopped at and London because we needed to stock up for souvenirs.
