This article sort of freaked me out. Freelance writing's unfortunate model
But all in all. I think it's an okay time to be doing what I'm doing. I have a paper I write for that I love and that I think pays me pretty fairly. Yes, writing for internet is always going to be a sucktastic job, but it might just be able to fill in some cracks in my budget and give me new adventures. Plus, I'm fortunate to live in a area that gets a lot of great people come and visit, so the Arts & Entertainment dept of my local paper will always have fun things for me to do. Not to mention the books section. *sigh* Books Section.see .. it's sad to see so many of those go away, meanwhile, ours is FLOURISHING!
Meanwhile, the pull of the hospitality industry is calling to me. More specifically, it's ability to mesh together all the things I love. Imagine having a job where you get to meet new people, cook amazing dishes for them, and show them amazing parts of this great country. Also, I'd love to be able to market it towards writers, ala Writers Retreats. I got so many ideas! This HAS to be my year to get some of these things in the works!
