Tears of the Phoenix, a literary charity run by editors and authors, is partnering with Darien Book Aid Project to publish an anthology, the proceeds from which will help DBAP continue to supply books to Peace Corps volunteers teaching in Third World countries.

We're looking for writers and artists from all over the world who are willing to donate their talent to help worthwhile causes that further a love literature and literacy. To participate, simply send us a poem or short story by June 1, 2009. If you need inspiration, visit our Web site at www.tearsofthephoenixink.org to see some prompts supplied by DBAP volunteers. Artists can choose to submit work on its own, or contact our art directors Kim Kiser (kim@tearsofthephoenixink.org) or Diana McCabe (diana@tearsofthephoenixink.org) to be put on a list of illustrates to add art to submitted stories.

Full submission guidelines are available on the site. Authors retain copyright to all submissions.

Tears of the Phoenix aims to further the love of the written word by helping literary charities raise funds through the production and sales of charity-specific anthologies. It was cofounded in 2007 by editor/designer/writer N. Apythia Morges and award-winning author Tamela Ritter.

Our latest endeavor, "Ripple Effect: A Collection of Fiction and Art," (Tears of the Phoenix, October 2008) featured stories and art from more than 40 contributors-- including Rachel Caine, author of the Weather Warden and Morganville Vampires series-- and benefits Rebuild New Orleans Public Libraries.
